Editor’s Note: The video above shows KXAN News Today’s top headlines for April 4, 2023.AUSTIN (KXAN) — Testimony from a photogrammetry expert in the Daniel Perry murder trial disputed eyewitness accounts that Daniel Perry sped into a crowd of Black Lives Matter protesters before he shot and killed Garrett Foster in downtown Austin.Perry is accused of murder and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon in the July 2020 death of Foster. Perry entered a not-guilty plea in court last week.The expert, Jason Evans, who is an engineer, testified in court on Tuesday. Evans said they performed a laser scan of the scene on Congress Avenue to analyze a number of things, including the speed of Perry's car. BELL COUNTY, Texas (FOX 44) - The man accused of killing Fort Hood soldier Brandon Rosencrans will spend the next 40 years in prison.Brandon Michael Olivares made a plea deal with Bell County prosecutors in February, and a judge sentenced him towards the end of March. Olivares was charged with murder and arrested on August 5 - after the body of 27-year-old Rosecrans was discovered in the 2100 block of Fuller Lane in Harker Heights in May 2020.At first, Olivares told others he killed Rosecrans for trying to rape his girlfriend - but the girlfriend denies this happened.Olivares was indicted for the murder of Rosecrans in September 2020. (NEWS10) -- As work continues to replace the railway bridge over Route 85 in Slingerlands, the Department of Public Works has installed a detour that pedestrians can use to continue using the Helderberg Hudson Rail Trail. The detour leads pedestrians down a stone dust surface to a crossing over Route 85/New Scotland Road, and then up to rejoin the trail. Cyclists are advised to walk their bikes to avoid conflicts with pedestrians, joggers, pets on leashes, and small children. Signage is adequate and will present only a moderate delay for users. ST. LOUIS -- The Missouri State Highway Patrol has issued an Amber Alert. A notification was sent to many mobile devices. Police are asking the public to help them find a 2019 Dodge Caravan with Missouri license plate ID GJ5N2D.The van was recently seen in the 1100 block of Bardot Street in St. Clair, Missouri. A one-year-old child named Harvey Cain is missing. He is a white male that was wearing fire truck pajamas. He has a scratch over his left eye.The suspect Cain may be traveling with is a white male in his 30s, who may be wearing a baseball cap, dark hooded sweatshirt, and khaki pants. ST. LOUIS - A man accused in a deadly crash last fall in north St. Louis County now faces a DWI charge in the crash several months later. Prosecutors have charged Zachary Myers, 34, with one count of DWI (causing death of another) in the crash. He was taken into custody on March 30 after authorities acquired a warrant. Investigators say Myers was speeding on New Halls Ferry Road and crossed into southbound traffic as he approached Vaile Avenue. The victim, 45-year-old woman Laquita Gandy, was struck head-on and died from her injuries. According to court documents acquired by FOX 2, Myers traveled nearly 60 mph on a 40 mph road and crossed double yellow lines leading up to the crash.
